I ran across an interesting bit of info on
cyclingnews.com. The writer had knee pain and
ITB syndrom after switching from
Look pedals to Speedplays.
The cause wasn't fore/aft problem or excessive
float, but the stack height differed by approx 17mm
between the two types of pedals.
Ones saddle height may be correct for one
pedal system, but that doesn't mean it still
is when switching to a new type of pedal.

Shoe/cleat assemblies vary, also. Speedplay's cleat itself decreases height as compared to Look or Time. I use SPD pedals and had to raise my saddles 8mm when switching from Shimano shoes to Carnac--Shimano's cleat receiver is built right into the sole whereas Carnac's is added on.
