Hi all......
A little bit of advice required please.

My bike has a Shimano Dura ace groupset, but has STI 6000 shifters.
One of the shifters is broken so i need to replace them.
The bike has an 8 speed rear cluster fitted.

My question is this.
Will a new set of dura ace shifters work with the 8 speed setup that i have.

If not does anyone have any advice as to what my options would be.

Thanks in advance for any help

All the best.

Dave

Dave, The DA RD has a different pull ratio from the other RDs of the Shimano road groups. Some have had success using non DA shifters by using the 'B' cable clamping position.

The STI shifters can sometimes be repaired by flushing them with WD40 and relubing with something like TriFlow or LPS2. If the shifters have been unused for awhile, the more likely the grease has congealed preventing positive ratcheting.

Sorry, off topic, but, can someone show me (pics/diagram) the "B cable clamping position".
Thanks!

To the OP, I have succesfully used Mineral Spirit to put finicky STI shifters back to normal use. First remove the hoods, then soak them in Mineral spirits for an hour, then keep working the shift paddles.

Yeah, your shifter prolly isn't really broken.

Thanks for the info all.

Unfortunately my shifter is definitely broken.

I'll definitely have a look at the 'B' cable clamping option, otherwise i may just opt for sourcing some downtube shifters and ordinary brake levers.

All the best.

Dave.
