What kind of travel is recomended on a good shock,
and again, what is a good kind of frame for freeriding

From what I've gathered, 5+ inches is great for downhill and freestyle while 3 inches or so is better for cross country.
Any other opinions? :)

Depends on how much $$$$ you've got to spend!
For me, Freeriding means going out and riding! Not racing and not training, just riding!
Thusly, I don't "Need" 7 inches of front and rear travel. I can get away with a 4" travel frame with a 3 or 4" travel fork and a beefier set of wheels. I'm not jumping gaps nor am I dropping 6' to flat! If you are, get the most travel you can afford!
A good around 5 + is good
but your xt1-15ds has got about 5 cm
