Bicycle Mechanics - Cassette Change - 105 5600 12-27 to Ultegra 6700 11-28t?

Is it possible to switch from a Shimano 105 5600 12-27 cassette to an Ultegra 6700 11-28t? I got a new set of wheel and I put my 105 5600 cassette on them and all was fine, but I decided that if I needed to switch out my wheels, I wanted to have a second cassette for the spare. I was planning on putting my 105 5600 12-27 on the previous stock wheels and buy a new cassette for the new wheels. I saw a really good deal on the Ultegra 6700 11-28t cassette and I thought that a slight upgrade on the cassette might be nice, and the bonus of the 28T cog would by great for the hills I have started to work on recently. Any reason why this shouldn't work as a swap? If swapped, what kind of adjustments / additional equipment should I be looking at? I would assume some RD adjustments, but I am really new to bike maintenance (but trying to learn!) especially derailleur adjustments.

A quick adjustment might be needed, but the change can be made without any adjustment most of the time.

Does it only click in first gear? The upper jockey wheel may be rubbing on the 28t - there's a screw next to the derailleur's mounting bolt that controls the spring tension in that pivot and thus the distance of the upper jockey wheel from the cogs.

I have been considering the 6700 11-28 for a rear cassette on my tri-bike. It has a 6600 rear D/R. However, several reports I have read is that it will not work well unless you have a 6700 or higher rear D/r.

Did that on my bike. No adjustment needed. Then again, I have the long cage RD, so it was no problem for me.

I have an Ultegra 6603 setup with a 6703 crank. I replace the 12-27 with a 11-28 and no adjustments were needed. The 6603 long cage derailleur works just as well as it did with the 12-27. I like the 11-28 and don't miss the 16 gear at all.

Took my bike to my lbs (where I have a service plan on my bike anyway) and they tuned me up. Went for a ride tonight and things seem so far so good. No change in chain, etc. pretty stoked.
