I became the owner of a TREK 1400 bicycle when I purchased this home and the
previous owner left the US. He said it was an excellent bike of vintage style and thought my son might want it. This is not the case. It has been stored in the garage (hung up.) I am a retired senior, and cannot bike. I am trying to find something out about it. It is in excellent shape, not a scratch anywhere. It is White, Matrix Equiped has a stamped in number on the frame bottom 556341, The tires on the bike say Matrix ISO C-11-700C. There is a complete aditional front and rear tire assembly as well as many tires for the bike. The nearest bicycle shop is 50 miles from here and I do not think I can get it in my car. Does anyone have any information they could share with me? I think I will sell it but have no idea about it. Thanks, Cinder

Welcome to Bike Forums. I'm guessing its from the 1990s. The folks in the Classic & Vintage (http://www.bikeforums.net/forumdisplay.php/181-Classic-amp-Vintage) forum should be able to help you.

My question for you is, why can't you ride it? I'm 66 and own two road bikes and ride several times a week. There are lots of others here who are older than me.

I suffer with two severe acute ankle sprains, one which was also broken, along with a broken foot. Also Back and SI problems. Following my specialists orders --- bike riding is out. Thank you for pointing me in a direction where I may find some help! Happy riding! Enjoy! Regards, Cinder

Hi cinder, sorry to hear you can't ride. What area of the country are you in? I'm sure someone in here could help you get it back on the road.

I'm in the NW corner of Arkansas. About 5 miles from Eureka Springs in the beautiful Ozark Mountains.

Thank You. I contacted TREK yesterday and sent them a picture of the bike. It is indeed a 1990 and was $1200.00 new. I appreciate your site suggestion as if I sell it, I would want anyone interested to be able to see it, check it out and come to their own conclusions. It has been stored and to me, looks to be in excellent shape. Not a "scratch" or a "ding" that I can find. The extra front and back wheels also look fine. Thanks again! Cinder
