leader 727tr mostly....

The tapered/ partly jointed down and top tube resemble a fuji track pro

The tapered down tube looks like a puma bike's top tube...

At first glance, I thought that pic was of one frame. A little bit of smoke is still coming from my ears.

Yeah, why do Visp, BikeIslands, et al insist on taking pictures of like 12 frames at a time?

I just bought a 51cm in the polished finish. Will post details when it arrives

Cool.

This further proves to me that visp and leader are made in the same factory.

The TRAP frame seems similar to the TRNXL-2 but with a top tube in design of Trek T1/ new GT Pulse

There are less similarities than you'd initially think:

they aren't "ripping off" leader by making a polished aluminum fixed frame, curved downtube or not

I really really doubt this.

Really.

I had a 2008 735TR and that thing was really light, the level of sophistication was way better than any Visp I've seen.

Like I've said in another thread, maybe some of the hydroformed tubes are produced in the same factory but that's about it.

REMspeedwagon

Yeah, taiwan is going crazy with the hydroformed tubes. How many bikes have you seen with that seat tube?

Scrodzilla
05-25-11, 09:19 PM
I've seen a Visp side by side with my Leader and even though the seat tubes are similar, they're not exactly the same.

cc700
05-25-11, 09:24 PM
they're not the same, but the top tube of mine is shaped like a 725's and the seattubes are very close if i remember my friend's 725. the level of sophistication and lightness of a lot of the other tubes(stays, dropouts, headtubes, downtubes) are obviously different, but i am not sure how many factories there are piecing together bikes from the same tubesets. could be just different machines in the same factory, could be these are just banged out really quick and not put a lot of time into R+D or engineering, but to say they're not similar is silly. just like the 735tr was really close to some of the rebranded english companies, these are really close to leaders.

This is now a Taiwanese aluminum frame thread.

In no specific order

Clearly the VISP and Leader are not the same. You only have to weigh them to see the difference. I have a VISP TRX790 and a Leader 721tr, and the VISP frame is about 2 lbs heavier. However, the build quality is about the same. Welds are equally good on both frames, alignment is good, spacing is good, threading is good, paint is good. I think the eBay seller at one point claimed the VISP was made in the same Taiwanese factory as name brand Giant, and I wouldn't doubt it. The differences are in the sophistication in the forming of the tubing, straight gage on the VISP and much thinner (lighter) double butting on the Leader, straight round chainstays with a dent on the outside for crank spider and chainring clearance on the VISP and multi-bend oval chainstays to provide clearance w/o the need for a dent on the Leader.

but i am not sure how many factories there are piecing together bikes from the same tubesets.

I believe this is closest to being correct

Or less.

I've felt for my entire life that I get less than I pay for.

A soda should never cost more than a dollar, a sandwich more than 5 (and it better come with chips/fries).

I wouldn't be surprised if leader and visp where built in the same factory, Lots of oem bike factories produce frames for a hand full of companies. No the less visp has a big customer base and so does leader.

sadly visp has a bad rep, I think they are as fine as leader if anything. think about it. I ride a windsor:|
