I just picked up a marzocchi shiver (2004) for around 250 bucks. I havent put it on my bike yet but it feels pretty smooth and plush. Only 100mm of travel, but its the quality that counts. I would like to the opinions of all you out there.

well then I'd be willing to bet that the shiver will be quite an upgrade... Looks like it's a pretty nice fork, actually. I know it's an inverted design... I'm assuming you got the SC model.

yeah its the sc model.. tripple clamp or (dual crown) forks will void my fram warenty.

The SC was a 120mm travel fork in 2003, but they replaced it with a 100mm fork because is was very flexy apparently.
Ive always liked those forks, im looking into one of them to put on my craftworks rail when i get the frame, what do you think of them? And what will you be using them for?
Good find for $250 by the way :)

Most frames don't have the headtube build to support the strains of a DC fork :)

yeah a dual crown fork is vary strong... so strong that it could crack or break off the head tube on some bikes. btw, i am going to be using the fork for extreem xc and maybe a lil dh.
I'm guessing you already have a wheel that will take the 20mm through axle?

I bought one a couple of months ago and it sat in my closet until today as a matter of fact. I installed it and took it on it's maiden voyage.
I had a 2002 Z1 on my bike, so it wasn't an upgrade more of a lateral move.
The Z1 is going back on my Intense when it comes back from warranty.
I like the fork, it's plenty stiff. I need to ride it more to break it in, but so far it's pretty smooth. I think I'm going to miss the ETA that's on my Z1, but no biggie.
The 100 mm dropped my front end a bit and quickened the steering significantly when compared to the 130 on the Z1. I heard it was pretty flexy, but I didn't notice any more flex than my Z1 (both are 20mm thru axles).
So far, I like it. I had the preload cranked all the way in, so I'm going to buy a set of stiffer springs and see how that changes things.
