A small accomplishment, but one that I have never done before.
This past weekend was a very large organized ride called the California Classic Weekend here in the Central Valley. They had three organized rides a mini-metric (35miles) a metric and a full century. Being a noob and not having a lot of miles under my belt I signed up for the mini-metric last month. Previous to the ride my longest ride had been 10 miles.
Saturday morning rolled around and with the company of a friend who is a CAT3 we headed off at 7:00 with around 1500 other cyclists. The exciting part of the ride consisted of being able to ride a 10 mile stretch of a freeway. This was a history making event in California as there had never been a closure of a freeway for cyclists! I'm also happy I pedaled my 348lb self for 35 miles! This is just the first of many more miles to come!
