I want to be able to transport this mountain bike from Mississippi to Miami. I am planning to make this as a check in luggage. Any suggestions on how I can do it?

pack it up in a box just like you'd ship it.
if youre looking for a way to "trick them" into checking it as a regular bag i think you'll lose. Thy have very clear rules about bikes and the fees are usually over 100. Best way is to pack it up and ship it UPS. Typically its cheaper and safer.

what is the most cost effective way to ship this bike then?
Remove the seat/post, handlebars, and wheels. Find a box that will fit it all with a wheel on each side of the frame. Seat and handlebars can go in the area of the rear triangle.

If you have one near you, go to a Soho Hero or similar general parcel store & they can tell you which method will be the cheapest. The surcharge will likely come out to about the same as or less than the gas you would use going to each of the stores separately. It will almost definitely be cheaper than checking it in though, & will likely be handled more carefully.
