I've been using a traditional SA trigger shifter on my folding bike for more than a year, and recently it's started slipping out of first gear. The slipping seems to be mostly caused by road vibration, but I've had it happen a few times on perfectly smooth roads. The finger lever thingy (technical term) also rattles quite a lot, which is annoying, and I think the two problems are linked. Is this a common problem? If so, is there a fix, or do I need a new shifter?
Thanks in advance

Clean and Lubricate, is step 1. trad Aw3 triggers are cheap .
even the special Brompton ones are not that dear in cost.
Sounds like the spring is broken. I have not had much luck disassembling them. Replace the shifter if cleaning and lubricating doesn't work.

There's a spring in there?

Those trigger shifters are bombproof and last forever, but once in a while you'll get a bad one. I bought a NOS '70s shifter that rattled and hung up between 2nd and 3rd. I finally replaced it after putting up with it for a year. It cost me all of $12.
