I found this site while looking for information about recumbent bikes. I'm 55 years old and regular bikes aggrevate a pinched nerve in my neck. I did a test reide on a recumbent and it was very comfortable. What are some of the pro's and con's about the bike? I'm not looking to do much more than recreational riding. I live in Southern NJ. On the Mainland from Atlantic City. The biggest hills we have are some of the bridges over the intercostal waterway. Any information would help.

We have a number of things in common, like yourself I am 55, spent 50 plus years growing up and raising a family in NYC before moving to AZ and I ride a "bent", EZ Sport Ltd.

At first I was a little hesitant about buying a bent, but now I'm glad I did. They have a big a seat, great for comfort, no groin issues. Because you are sitting straight up or slightly leaning back there is no lower back problems. Granted it takes more leg strength to climb, as you can not "stand on it" as a DF but I'll take the trade offs any day of the week.

I ended up buying the EZ rider. Weather was beautiful yesterday and took a nice ride. I really enjoyed riding it. I found it very comfortable, takes a little getting use to with the steering but nothing major. I'm anxious to get home today and take another ride. I could get hooked on this.

Welcome! I'm a mainlander across from A.C. myself. Commute everyday from Absecon to Northfield, rarely ever seeing anyone else commuting. I've been road riding in this area for about 20 years and have been noticing a steady decline in the amount of riders on the roads despite the soaring population growth. Kind of depressing.

Anyway, every once in a while I see a recumbant or two out there - usually near Greenbank & Lowerbank. Hope the bent helps you ride more comfortably. Maybe I'll see you out there sometime.
