So what's a good mtb glove?

Anything Fox Racing. Axo makes some nice gloves, and Lizard Skins has some cool gloves also. I have the Specialized BMX pro gloves and those don't have the stupid pad, and I love them. For I mountain biking I don't really want padding for comfort, I just want gloves so I can get leaves and stuff out of my brakes, and so my hands won't slip when they get sweaty.

I was thinking FOX, but I want 1/2 or 3/4 gloves that aren't too heavy. It gets pretty hot in Austin and I would think that they would only make my hands sweatier.

Yeah, my hands get sweaty in my BMX gloves for sure!!! Get gloves with a patch of terry cloth on them though, it works really well for wiping a sweaty brow. There are not very many things worse than sweat dripping into your eyes from your brow.

I've got a pair of Fox Mojave and a pair of Sidewinders. They're both great. The Mojave's are half fingers and the Sidewinders are full.

I have some no name gloves with a leather palm, and a nit back. They took a months or so to break in, i wouldnt trade them in for anything! There the best gloves i have ever had...

Now if you need gloves to protect the back of your hand from branches, these are not for you. But city riding, and singletrack, i wouldnt use anything else.

I also have a PI white line 2 glove i just purchased, so far so good, but i need to put more miles on it before i know if its a keeper.

The Fox sidewinders are great for cold weather, full on mtb'ing, I've got a new pair of Axo Cabria full fingered gloves that were given to me by the guys at Axo,they're not as heavy duty as the Foxes but seem very comfortable so far .. and I've got a pair of Azonic Talons 1/2 fingers but full thumb these are VERY comfortable in warmer weather !

I've used a variety of gloves and never really noticed a difference in full fingered gloves being "hotter". The new gloves have material that allows a significant amount of airflow. I just prefer the extra protection a full fingered glove provides over a 1/2 fingered. When I ride my mt. bike, I tend to go through vegetation on the side of the trail and like the extra protection. I also tend to "Push Off" trees and other things on the trail.

I've had a number of Fox gloves - all very good! I've used some Answer Products BMX gloves - also good! I have some Pedro's gloves - not bad but have worn out quickly!

My suggestion is for the FOX gloves, get em on closeout!

Oh yeah, once I get a new pair, I use my old ones for doing yardwork around the house, Definately beats the clunky cheap ones you buy at the hardware store!

Although my hands sometimes do get a bit hot or sweaty, I wear full-finger gloves year-round, on-road and off. [Does this make me a Phred?] I am pretty happy with my Treks, which have a mesh over three of the fingers.

Not sure if they make them anymore, but I have had my Schwinn 1/2 fingered for 3 or 4 years now. They have a spandex back and a leather palm with no padding. I have broken then in well and wouldn't trade them now for anything. Plus they were only about $10, so I can afford to get them dirty.

What i like to ride with is 1/2 finger padded palm. Just feels better to me than the full finger. Down here in florida i cant have the full finger; my hands get too hot!

uhm...yea.

I don't wear full finger gloves, but that's because i have freakishly long thumbs and full finger gloves don't fit. :p

Either you should just not read this thread, or type statements that make since. I am sure that once you learn what FUBAR means, that you would not use it in the context that you have.

Anyway, I have stopped using gloves on the trail since I just got some Oury grips. They seem to just get better and more tacky with age.

Rancid,

you wouldn't know this as you are new but coolio's old name was fubar and I am sure that was a reference to the guy handle and not a derogatory attack or slander.

the reason for the confusion is this thread is 2 years old :)
