I wonder if any one can help me date my Holdsworth. There is a clear frame number stamped on the bottom bracket which reads: 33941. Thanks .

Martin, You should try running an archive search here for anything with "Holdsworth", there might be a clue to dating yours by finding a close match to another serial number.
I have to check on MY Super Mistral (which supposedly is mid-70s, but I'm still not convinced) cause I can't remember its number right now.
here's one thread that contains a few pics and some mention of numbers:

there's more info than this in the archives, I'm sure.

EDIT: here's a quote that might help
"...31236. I'm almost certain it is a 1967 model..."

Read How Old Is My Bike (http://www.mytenspeeds.com/My_TenSpeeds_1/FREE_SITE_VINTAGE/VINTAGE_1_Start.htm)? That should bring you very close to actual vintage. I might add that determining vintage yourself is actually a fun thing to do.

Hope this is a help.

serial numbers are possibly a good source of info, as unworthy points out there quite a few holdsworth questions on this website.
i have a (i think 1972-74) super mistral and the number is 41310,
my 1982 nuovo record is 41366...any ideas why they would be so close?
the NR was in production for 1 year only
