hey, so i just switched over to a fixed gear a few days ago, and sometimes when I am riding, there is a bunch of noise coming from my chain. it sounds like the gears are changing, even though there arent any. when i get off and look at it it doesnt seem like anything is wrong, the chain tension looks fine and the chain isnt falling off or anything like that. Before when i was riding it single gear i did not have any problems with the chain making noise and i had the same setup, just with a freewheel and not a fixed cog. I think it might be because my front chainring is 3/32 while my chain is 1/8 inch. Or does the chain length and tension on a fixed gear differ from that you would use on a single gear? any help or ideas would be nice. thanks

Have you tried lubing the chain to see if it is dry?

My immediate guess is that your chain is too tight and/or dry.

okay, i will try lubing my chain and see if that makes a difference. and so i'm guessing the chain tension doesnt change from single to fixed?

Maybe bad chainline.

Maybe bad chainline.

Maybe this too. Often times a freewheel will produce a slightly different chainline than a fixed cog. A couple/few millimeters shouldn't make noise though.
