Classic & Vintage - I miss C&V...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

It's been a long time since I've been on here, much less posted.
I've been lurking more and more again. But after having had to sell my bikes, and taking on a new job, and a whole mess of things, it's been difficult to come back. There was atleast 2 months when I didn't even come here (BikeForums.net in general)
I feel so out of the loop. And even more out of place without a bike.
I've been looking for one, but the pickings around here are slim lately, and money's had other places it's been needed.
Ah well.
I'm gonna try and come back here a lot more often now.
I miss you guys.

Hey Gene!
We've missed you too. I still walk by that abandoned Twenty everyday and wish there were some way I could liberate it for you.

I am sure I speak for everyone when I give a "+1" to that "welcome back, Gene. "
A lot of folks have been/are going through some difficult times, we know. - But be assured, there is a light - and a grail bike or two at the end of your tunnel!

What size bike do you ride? What are you looking for? Put some details out there, who knows what might happen.

I ride a 55-57cm "square" (top tube=seat tube).
Uh. Fender eyelets? Rack mounts, maybe? Canti's would be nice. Lugs, obviously.
Iuhno. I just want a bike. I've been seeing so many people riding lately. It makes my heart cry when I know I can't be out in it.
BG: The job is awesome. Doesn't pay great, but I'm only at the bottom of the chain, and I definitely have the opportunity of moving up.

A set of wheels is just sitting here, ready for you to ride. You know it fits.
You know me, it's not a touring rig, more in line with the super 'sonic you built.
PM me. JP asked about you at Louisburg; I said "who?"
I kid, too. Everytime I rocket down Hwy 39, I wonder what Gene's up to....

It's not like you don't have my phone number Robbie, or know where I live, lol.
I think at this point 5-10 miles would kill me. I haven't been on a bike since November. Ugh...
I mean. If you all pitched in. I would be forever indebted. But you all don't have to do that.
The fact that it's even coming up proves to me that I still belong here.
Thanks guys, I really appreciate the welcome back.

I'll keep my eyes open for a frame and fork for you. I have been stumbling upon some neat stuff recently.
Always nice to see a familiar poster wander back in. :)

i have a schwinn somethingerother in around that size you could have. it aint pretty but its sound and would get you on the road. its a frame fork headset and i'll find a seat post bolt and bb and thrown them on on you want it. i can probably donate some other stuff too, like used but good tires/tubes, a brakeset...probably more if you need it.
only thing is you'd have to pay shipping which probably wouldnt be too bad. if you dont want the frame i can still donate parts.

Welcome back! I feel like I’ve been in a similar situation as yours. Last year I had to sell all my bikes. I felt naked. I keep telling myself that I’m done with C&V, then I lurk, then I feel like I have something to say (Which most of the times means I don’t). But, I agree. It’s a small group with a similar interest. And, although I’m more of a hermit crab than a social butterfly, I still love working on bikes and I’ve learned so much from this forum.
It’s too bad you’re on the other side of the country. I have 2 long term restoration project bikes that might fit you. One is a Cannondale, the other a Centurion Elite. They both would require ‘a lot’ of work. But if you’re interested, I’ve recently heard that Amtrak is the way to go for shipping.
