Looking at an Ironman but don't realy know the difference in the frames or prices between the Master and the Expert. Is 100$ for the frame to much? Is the Master made out of better stuff than the Expert? I do know 105 was on the Expert and 600 on the Master, was there a Dura-Ace version? If the two frames are made of the same stuff and brazons the name just designates the equipment level? I would have killed to have one new when I was 18, just couldn't afford it, so now may be my chance 25 years late.

Alan Yes the Master and the expert are the same. You are correct about the component difference. I have both and I like the 105 better in 1987. In 1989 the last year the 600 tri color is nice to look at but is it any better than 105?. I would pay $100 for a nice condition frame and fork. My frame by itself weights 4lb 8oz size 58cm.

$100 is OK if you have a complete component group, wheelset/tires, stem/bars & post/saddle ready to hang on it. Otherwise, you'll probably be better off to wait for a $300 (or less) complete and ready to ride Ironman.

Centurion put DA on a few frames, but only sporadically. I changed some of the 600 components on mine to DA. Did it make a difference? Don't know, but I liked the shiny DA hubs :)

I've seen some six speed and some 7spd are they all 126mm or are the 7spd 130mm. And thanks to all.

I thought the master was tange 1 and the expert was tange 2 - or the other way around but not the same tubing.
