Hi,

I currently have a Ti frame. I was thinking of polishing the frame.

How are these frames typically polished by framebuilders?

Is there a specific type of cloth that can be used to polish the frame?

Cheers,

I think there was a similar thread to this not long ago - someone suggested a buffing wheel as a quick and easy way to polish it nicely.
Found it - http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php/737893-Which-scotchbrite-pad-for-a-titanium-frame?highlight=titanium
As the name suggests it does also include advice on achieving a brushed finish, but hopefully you'll find something useful to you :)

I was wondering what polish he was using and how he prep'd it. I got know response there so I thought I would go to the source.

I'm afraid I don't any more than what's in the post - have you tried sending a PM?

Not sure how useful this might be - http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=88720
I can only suggest googling if you can't get an answer here on BF. Good luck! :)

Ti is polished in the same way as any base metal. You'll need a few polishing compounds and a few rag wheels and felt buffs.
The compounds I'd use would be tripoli to start and white rouge to raise the gloss and finish off.
You can use a large rag wheel to get the open areas of the frame but you'll need small felt buffs mounted in a dye grinder or Dremel tool to get into the
small confined areas.

It's a lot of work to make it look right.
