Touring - I am planning to do a trip from SF to LA
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

This is my first long distance bike trip...
I am really newbie, can you guys tell me everything I would need(from the basics)
For example, what kind of equipments I would need, the places to sleep, the route, how much money I would need, and etc.
Please help me and take it serious, I have always wanted to do this.

www.crazyguyonabike.com - bike journals
these are pacific coast
these have equipment lists - but of course, you need to think through on your own what's important to you
maps that include mileages, elevation profiles, service locations (food, camping, bike shops).
Or book with similar:
search/look here for info about bikes, equipment, money, etc.
I'm taking you seriously, but your question is very broad, so maybe you could do some research and then get back with more specific questions.

As valygrl suggests, you should buy the ACA maps or "Bicycling the Pacific Coast". They'll tell you pretty much everything you need to know to ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. If you're only planning to buy one, I'll suggest that the book is far more detailed and useful than the maps...

When are you planning on going?
I'm planning on going from SF to Santa Barbara, leaving in about a week and a half.
Apparently, SF to LA is the way to go (North to South has a good shoulder, and has tailwinds.)
