Folding Bikes - Bought a place in Hong Kong...what kind of bike would be best? (Folder....Mini Velo)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Greetings everybody,

I am looking for a bike to use in Hong Kong. With space and storage being so limited, I have been reading in this forum quite a bit.

I weigh about 235lbs, and I am thinking maybe a folder wouldn't be up to hauling my heavy carcass around.

I have seen a couple of the mini velo's online, and they seem to fit the bill sort of speak.

I spend most of my time in Mainland China, riding a Trek FX 7.5(nice bike). The thought did occur to me about bringing the FX to HK, but she really is too big for our little apartment.

Any thoughts and ideas on what you might do would be appreciated.

Scott

an extended steel seat post as part of the Brompton build options
also adds 30% more wall thickness to that tube, making it stronger.
Spec the firm suspension block, then you should be good to go.
all the other options are personal preference, bars, gearing, rack and /or mudguards, lights, etc.

Thanks fietsbob, I wonder if in HK I could spec a bike accordingly.

In this part of the world, things just don't seem as easy to do as back home.

I will be going back to HK in about a month or so, will check the LBS and see what they have to say.

When I bought my FX in China, I had a very hard time just finding a bike to fit me. The Asian people ride cheaper,
smaller bikes. At the Giant dealer, I was told it would take 3 months to get a bigger bike.

Hopefully, it will be much different in HK

Hi! I live in Hong Kong and I weigh 250lbs. Do you believe that all the bikes I owned are "unusual" portable folding bikes?
