Mountain Biking - Would you say I got a deal on this bike?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Last night I checked out a tent sale at MC Sports and it being my birthday I was in mind to buy something if it caught my eye. I saw they had some good prices on some mountain bikes so I looked closer and found this bike:

http://store.ferrari.com/en/sports-games/sport/bikes/ferrari-cx-50-bicycle.html

On sale for $449, down from 999$. The Ferrari store in the link quotes it at $2300, and Amazon lists it for 889 + 200 shipping. (List Price: $2,949.99
Price: $899.99
You Save: $2,050.00 (69%))

Now I'm just having some buyers remorse and am wondering if it would be possible to find a bike of similar quality at that price range, 476 out the door, as I'm wholly ignorant of mountain bike qualities/price ranges/components/etc.

Thanks for any input!

You could have bought a similar new bike for a few hundred more than you paid - seems like a fair deal to me. Go ride the hell out of it.

if the bike in the link is the actual bike you picked up for $450, i would say you got an amazing deal. you got a Colnago mountain bike for $450. you might not like the paint job, but if the bike is what you are showing it to be, go get it powdercoated (However, it might actually be a carbon bike, so you couldn't powdercoat it), and lookup Colnago bikes- then check their pricing.
Happy birthday, and nice deal...

From Colnago's Website:

Not the same bike as the Colnago in the link above ^^^. Perhaps the same frame manufacturer, Turbo. The Colnago Rock is full CF with what looks like a Sram XX component spec. The Ferrari is alu front triangle with CF rear and a lower Shimano component spec.

Still a good deal I'd say, blueskycycling.com has them at $700. No buyers remorse warranted and happy belated b-day. Ride the hell outta the new bike.

thats a pretty sweet ride for $500. I may be alittle wary of the low spoke count wheels if your a heavy guy, say 220 or so. im kinda digging the paint scheme on the seat post.

Yeah I'm 203, dropped 6 lbs in the last four days. I figure it's much easier for me to lose weight than for me to strip it off the bike!

Speaking of the paint there, the bike I'd bought got it scratched when I adjusted the saddle's height and I was pretty bummed about that but I took it to MC and they let me swap it out for another so win-win
