Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Late 1980s cannondale 3.0?

I found this bike on the Internet and I wasn't sure about what this bike is or how good it is (to make into fixie or something). The guy says it's a cannondale 3.0 mt bike. I really don't know much about it. I've posted a link to a picture that he posted up with his sale. He was $250

With the vertical drop outs its not the best canidate for a fixed gear. It requires an odd expensive hub or an aproach that is difficult and doesnt always work. There are much better frames out there to use that can be had for cheap.

What would you get? I'm looking for a light frame that I could make into a really nice fixie?

Well, do you want to do a conversion? Why not just buy a fixed gear from the get go? Plenty of good options already laid out for you..

that bike as a geared roadie is way cooler than any sub 800 dollar fixed gear as it is. i love old cannondales, as do most people.

I'm trying to avoid buying stock, I think if I was to do it myself then it would be more customized to be and you can easily tell if someone made it from parts or bought it from the store. What would you suggest?

Well, my post didn't really try to convince you to buy a stock bike, you could always just buy a frame and be able to build it up yourself.

and all i was saying is that if i only had one bike, it would be a geared roadie like that cannondale not a pake and dp18s.

this thread is done... you want a cheap fixed gear that you can piece together from the frame up. this bike is a terrible candidate for that.
