It was a great weekend of riding at the Challenge of the Centuries ride in Hartwell, GA. This ride is an ideal lead up to BRAG with two days of challenging rides and camping at night. My friends from Team Occisus Via were there and we were able to make final plans for BRAG and rehearse our camping, hanging out, dining and beer drinking routines.

I rode the metric century routes Saturday and Sunday for a total of 130 miles in the two days. Saturday was overcast and 68 miles of mildly rolling hills. Sunday was harder with 62 miles of steeper and longer hills under clear skies. Temps were in the high 80s both days. I used the big tent and although it was great to have all that room and be able to stand up inside the tent, it was clear that putting up and taking down that big tent every day would be more trouble than it is worth. I'll take the small tent on BRAG.

The Roubaix was great, eating up the miles and smoothing out the occasional rough sections of road.

Love those quiet country roads as well as the odd sights on peoples lawns, which can all be best appreciated from a bike saddle.

The fox was not on someone's lawn, it was a small part of our campsite decorations.

It is very appropriate to have a Fox as a part of a bicycling event. But it should be spelled Fox.

Northeast GA near the South Carolina border. Saturday's ride was mostly in SC.

That's OK, also. My nickname in elementary school.

BluesDawg,
I enjoyed the ride slideshow. BTW, can you get a cycling license plate for your car in GA? That would be pretty cool. (I know they have all sorts of options for various SEC and ACC schools but a bicycling plate would be a nice option. Might be a good way to fund some cycling infrastructure.)
