I'm planning on doing some overnight and 2-3 day tours this summer on my bike once it is finished.

Have any of you out in BFland done any fixed gear touring? Any pictures/stories/links you could share? Any advise you could offer to someone who hasn't done fixed gear touring (but wants to)?

I am also planning on doing some longer fixed rides in spite of some of the "advice" you might find against it on the touring threads. These guys rode all the way across the country.

There's nothing wrong with fg touring if you know what you're doing. But I wouldn't complain about the "advice" (why the quotes?) provided by those who tour regularly, especially if one is "planning" but hasn't yet tried touring (have you?).

To the op, have you toured before? It's a really, really good idea to get some touring experience on a geared bike before going fixed. That said, if you're doing several short trips, you could readily get your feet wet geared and use the experience to determine what gearing works for you and how best to pack light and fixed-friendly.

I have done some long distance fixed rides, but I really just don't see it being worth it, its very hard on the knees in the long run .

I have a Long Beach to Seattle tour coming up in two months. I will have gears.
