Thanks, feeling very stiff and bruised today. I switched out the bars for some flipped albatross bars those didn't have enough sweep for this setup. The sproggle is great, just was a little shaken up. The peapod is great protection. She keeps poking the goose egg on my knee saying papa wawa. Mom was with us and was worried about me than anything. 400 pounds of bike, kid and me going over is quite the fall.
The bike is fine, just had to fix the brakes a bit. Hopefully will go for a shakedown ride tomorrow if I can hold more weight on my knee.

Fixed riding is wayyyy different, but I came from riding BMX as a kid, so it wasnt that far of a stretch for me. After riding SS most of my life, I picked up a flipflop rear hub just in case. The flipflop hub is a great option to have so you can switch about depending on where/how far you plan to ride.

It's a rolling jackass made specifically for longtail bikes. I highly recommend double kickstands for riding with kids.

Bought it in 2007. I put about 3 weeks worth of riding on it before being hit while on my duty motorcycle, I ended up needing knee surgery. That took me out of riding for about 6 months. Long story short I am getting back into riding after life happened. I am loving it more than before and want to get a new bike for commuting and some light touring, the mountain bike is a bit heavy to be lugging around on the street.

I got a bike that looks just like the one on the left. Except when it has the rack and Planet Bike Hardcase Trunk on it.
This started out as just a way to get to work and save gas. Then I found out just how out of shape I am...
http://i441.photobucket.com/albums/qq138/Cee64E/Fat%20guy%20on%20a%20bike/newbike.jpg
So I added a Currie power drive kit to save my knees and a nose-less saddle to save the man-parts.
Most of the stuff was purchased at the local Kmart store or on Amazon. I've recently changed the shifters over from the stock grip shifters to some indexed Shimano shifters that I like a LOT better. The next thing to do is replace the stock stem with a longer unit. I can't cope with being crouched over too much. My knees and my spare tire collide. This is still a work in progress...

I think that's the first MEC bike I've seen posted here. I like their bikes; I test rode a Hold Steady and came very close to buying it, but opted for a belt drive Norco instead. I read that MEC plans to offer a belt-driven SS next year.
