I ordered a pair of Salsa Cross lever (40$ + 18$ shipping) on ebay, which arrived today. The seller did not mention about the diameter of the clamp and me, being new to fixies, only realized it's a 31.6mm clamp when i unboxed it today... I can return it for money back but that means i lose an extra 20$ on return shipping!

Which size should I get for my brake lever? 26mm? Or is it possible to put some spacer/adaptor on my handlebar so that I can install the 31.6mm brake levers on it?

Thanks!

Those are some pretty expensive cross levers.

First off, it's 31.8mm, not 31.6mm. Second, you can get cross levers in 3 sizes: 24mm, 26mm and 31.8mm. Third, you paid too much >>> http://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=15987&category=2231 $22 with $2.99 shipping. You can either mount a 24mm lever on the bar area past the clamping area, or use some electrical tape to shim a 26mm lever on the clamping area.

Yes, shims are indeed available, but I doubt your typical LBS will have them. You can get them for $8 + shipping here >>> http://www.worldclasscycles.com/Track_components_cart.htm

I'm guessing you didn't get the Salsa Cross levers that come with a shims? 31.8. to 26mm, should work for your bars.

If you had Ourys and risers, it'd be no problem. Otherwise, you're screwed.

Shim it. If a bicycle product is not made for that, buy some shim stock or something at a hardware store. This is totally doable.
