I changed my 29er hard-tail to single-speed. With the lack of derailer, lighter rear wheel, and a heavy fork (RockShox Dart 3) the bike feels very front-heavy. Lacking the funds to get a lighter suspension fork, I would like to get a rigid fork. The bike has disc brakes.

My searching thus far has indicated that the Salsa CroMoto is better than the Surley Karate Monkey. Is there anything else in that price range I should consider? Is the Niner steel fork worth the extra $60?
