So yeah im a little behind on this, just watched that tyler hamilton 60 min thing. My question is what do they get out of this? what are they getting out of outing people other than looking like Di**s?

What does 60 Minutes get, or what does Tyler Hamilton get? In the case of 60 Minutes, they get publicity for breaking the story and a lot of people watch the show.
What does Tyler Hamilton get? He gets to tell his side of the story in his own way. You know it was going to come out anyway through the federal investigation, but this way he gets to do it on his terms and people will be more sympathetic instead of automatically wanting to crucify him.
In the end it doesn't matter if it's unpleasant or not. The story needs to be told even if it's ugly.

The first is the bait. The second it the 'hook line and sinker'. You are the fish ... you've been caught.
When Tylers book comes out, you'll buy it because "the story" needs to be told AND READ. Tyler gets rich. You get drama. Everyone is happy.

Armstrong's PR group created the perception that Tyler is out to promote his upcoming book. After all, they know that Armstrong's lies has enabled him to promote his own books in the past. Yep Lance, it isn't about the bike at all. It's about the EPO.

I was going to type up a hypothetical where you have a cyclist training business and your credibility is in the crapper and you wanted to get some free publicity and possibly avoid prosecution so you accused everyone else of doping. But, that would be totally unbelievable. Instead I'll just say he's a liar and a cheat and his 15 minutes were up years ago.
