Just curious on what most of you guys like. I wanted a little bigger tire and ended up with much bigger, still up in the air on how much I like it. Was running 700 x 23, went to get something bigger and all LBS had was 700 x 35, deffinitely smoother but feels heavier, wanted 700 x 28.

I like those Panaracer 26mm tires cuz they're the biggest that fit in my bike. 25s are a close second.

I like 25's. I'd probably do 28 in the back.

I like the speed of the 23s but the 35s felt nice on the little 6 mile ride to work, hopefully get to put more miles on it tomorrow when off work.

does it feel harder to push your gear ratio with the 35s?

they are great for commuting, and the roads around here are in poor shape

Used to rock 23 front, 28 back, currently rocking 28 on both because it's easier on my fragile, broken body.

It seemed a little harder to push, but also running on very little sleep and food so might be more the engine than the tires feeling heavy. Deffinately feel smoother on my rough roads.

If I ran 23s I'd be at 64.9 GI, currently at 67.1 GI. Not sure how much you would notice that difference, perhaps slightly.

23s for racing, 28s for everyday riding. I also have a wheelset setup 23 front/25 rear which is nice for going fast and still being a little more comfortable.

IMO, unless your roads really suck or you're touring or something anything bigger than 28 is overkill. The loss in speed outweighs the gain in comfort.

I also weigh 135lb, so I don't mind the skinny tires so much.

This for me, I started on 25c's, got a deal on 23's they destroy'd me but thankfully they didn't last, switched to Rando 28c's and have been very happy with them

23c-25c for city riding. I'm like 140lbs. I find individual tires make a difference too. My 23c Fyxations are more comfortable than my 25c Panaracer Duro PTs were.

I am at 71.3 GI now with 35s, 42/16 sprockets, shouldn't be to bad, mostly flat roads, mite just be a weak day, lol.

I went from 650-21 to 23 and now finally am happy with 28. Feels comfy.

I carry a load, so it's harder for me to avoid rough roads and debris by getting light or popping up the rear end of the bike. Since most of a rider's weight is carried by the rear tire, it also makes sense to go bigger on the rear for greater comfort (if that's what you're into).

Really liking my 28c Ribmo's, at proper inflation they feel just as responsive as my 23c Ultra-Gatorskin's did.

Dual 28's. Wait... do you have to have different sized rims to have run two different sized tires? (Ex: a smaller rim in the front to run a 23-25)

28's here. Cold winters=crappy roads.

A set of rims can take a variety of tire widths. Mine can take 23-28. Would probably be fine with more, but the frame gets in the way. There is a chart about 3/4 of the way down this (http://sheldonbrown.com/tire-sizing.html#width) page that may be helpful.

I like to run 195/40/R16 on 9" wide wheels.

ohhh. I mean I have 23's. I'm currently on my first set of 700c wheels so I have some experimenting to do.

35s because it's the only size I can get Schwalbe Delta Cruisers in creme. Was very happy to have them riding on cobblestones in dumbo earlier this evening. 28s 0r 32s would probably fit under my fenders a little better but the 35s are so smooth.

^^ damn volkswagen owners and their stretched fad. 225/45/r15 on 15x8s over here >:3

Er I mean, I ride 25 front and 28 rear on my cheapo 700c wheelset. :D

700x47 they soak up the bad roads, handle crushed rock paths, handle a load in the panniers, and my 210+ lb frame. Low rolling resistance too.

Feel the same way with my 700x42s! Keep forgetting I can go OVER bumps and don't have to go around them.

I run 700c x 32 roads are not perfect around here. If I was to run on cobblestones or gravel, I would a 38 or larger and maybe even knobbies.

25c almost everywhere. 23c on the ti roadie until they wear out, then 25.

& 26 x 2.1.

& 205/50-15 (on 9lb 15x7 forged wheels, but not a VW).

& 285/75-16.

This. I rode 23c's for over a year without thinking about it, but I recently switched to 25c Pasela's. The difference in comfort is too minimal to justify the loss in speed in my mind.

Right now I have a 35 in front and a 38 in back. I'll probably put a 38 back up front and some point too. I like low tire pressure for banging my bike all over the stupid place.

I'm 150lbs and run 23's at 145psi on deep rims and an aluminum frame. I like it stiff (that's what she said)

totally opposite, i think. noticeably more comfort, same speed, in my experience.

what pressures were you running (for both 23/25)?

Well after 2 days and maybe 40 miles the 35s came off. After seeing the mix match sizes went and grabbed a 25 from LBS for rear and put the old 23 back on front. Coming home from work after 12 hrs this morning I felt like I was pulling a wagon. Did a short ride after switching tires out and really think I will stay with 25s, felt good and really feels as light as 23.

Le 50 Big Apples. You can almost rock almost any street surface and not give a crap. They're fantastic though they do require more effort to roll on, but I'm also 185lbs so it will be a different ride for someone under 150lbs

FWIW, when I had the 25c, I lowered to about 83 PSI, and I'm like 165lbs. I usually run front 90/ back 110 on 23c, perfect for me.
