In the winter we are trapped inside due to adverse affects of winters cold and snow.

Now........

In the summer we are trapped inside due to the damn heat and humidity.

You see we are senior citizens that are year by year watching our vigor slip away along with our abililty to withstand large extreme temperature swings.

I just built a new bicycle for summer riding and I can't ride now due to 90 deg + temps outside 'cause my body says "NO!! I"M not going out in that heat!"

I'm a patient 65 yr old but this is getting to be to much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

rant over.............:(

I hope I'm not a senior citizen when I'm 65 in 4 years.

Sorry to hear dealing with the heat is hard on you. Im just the opposite, I hate cold weather. I really dont like to ride if it is below 65. Also really dont like to ride if I cant wear shorts, even tho I to have tights I hate them. Here in Nebr I ride even if the temp gets up to near 100.

The weather has been a real pain this year. Lost about 1000 miles so far to poor weather. Thankful that we have not had the devastation that people have experienced elsewhere but it's still hard to take so few days that are good for riding. Particularly so when trying to keep an old house maintained and spruced up for an oncoming family get together. The few good days for riding are also days when I should be working on the house. Worked all day today on what would have been a great day for a long ride. Hopefully I will get one in tomorrow.

Ditto (in 5). The more you exercise, and the more efficient your circulation system, the better tolerance to extremes in temps you'll have. That and layering. ;)

I'm 66. The heat doesn't bother me too much. If the heat is too much for you ride earlier in the day.

Exactly what I will start doing tomorrow. Damn diabetes!

Nothing like doing an early morning ride and being able to watch the sun come up. :50:

When it is hot I just do my riding at night. The modern LED lights available for bicycles really make this not a problem at all. My melanoma risk is also less a night.

Now that's putting a positive spin on things!

We went from rainy or windy everyday to temps in the mid 90s. Got to love Kanas weather.

Admittedly not the extremes you have but it has been pretty warm over here compared to usual. Don't mind heat but it has also bought the wind back and I don't like riding in 25mph headwinds. The big advantage the weather has bought us for the last 3 months has been NO Rain. 3 months of that and the air is Dry- Low humidity and I like it. Riding with heat or wind is possible but High Humidity and I am dead after a few miles.

And Night riding is good. Just make certain you have good lights and you would be fine. No heat and less Humidity and the wind seems to drop off aswell.
