Hey guys, I'm a biking enthusiast from Bombay. Though I haven't been on a bike in years, I see it coming back. I came across this community while looking for information on buying a good bike in India.

In my search I realised that there's no thorough information on biking in India or biking trails across the country. Well I'm going to try and change that and look up and post information about where one can go biking in India, both urban as well as outdoor destinations.

I hope my work is useful to the members of BikeForums!

Welcome, good to see you on here. India is on my list of countries to visit and getting closer to the top every year, although i hadn't thought of it as necessarily a cycling destination, so any information is appreciated. Good luck in your quest.

Welcome, I remember reading about a very nice area to ride just north of Bombay that I believe only bicycles and pedestrians are allowed. If memory serves, it only about 100 kilometers to the north, and possibly in the hills.

I love the international appeal of cycling... especially for those of us who see bikes as something beyond mere transportation. IMO, cycling should be all about freedom, enjoyment, self-expression, creativity, passion, technical skill, and good health. I'd love to hear some stories about riding in Mumbai, and photos or video too if you have them.

Thanks, I'm glad to hear India's on your list! It's a country which shouldn't be missed! Once you see past the madness, the country will consume you! :)

Do let me know what you're looking for, I'd be glad to help with whatever information I can!

Well the only place that comes to mind which is a 100KM north is a small hill town called Matheran, the only means of transport there are a toy train and horses and yes it'd be an amazing place to bike. This is the wiki entry for it -> http://is.gd/LBDXXL Is this the place you're talking about?

I haven't really began cycling but I do have friends who are regular weekend cyclists and run a club of sorts in the city. I'll look up their details and post them in the forums soon.
