My first trip to Coe kicking off my Year of re-Entry to MTBing as an old guy, messing around on Pine Ridge (Friday). I did the Flat Frog Trail, I can see why single track can be addicting. Those 45 degree turns on stones above a 100 foot fall into gullies, that adds a certain drama to it - and I sole footed more than a few of those. Wish there was more legal single track in the Bay Area proper, EBRP system seems to have issues with MTBers on anything but fire roads.

Anyway, seems like you could spend an entire season exploring Coe..but looks like it would be brutally hot on summer day.

I've heard that if you go back far enough, there is some pretty nice bass fishing in the ponds. Sounds like a great place for a weekend fishing/riding/camping weekend. :)

Yeah, I read it's a great destination for bike camping as well. Feels very remote, and you can get deep/deep in. Cell phone coverage was zero in the valleys, saw one other biker at the front section. A little scary if you're solo.

I've backpacked there. I think it would be easier to hike than bike much of the park :p.

Enjoy it while you can. Henry Coe is on the list of 70 state parks that are slated to be closed by July.

First closures are now due in Sept, much of it delayed until 2012. I wouldnt be surprised if it's avoided, however you may be going to True Value Henry Coe State Park.
