With the onset of cold temperatures, I become faced with the possiblity of cutting down my ride times or distances due to exposure and the fact that I travel slower. For the last 8 months my ride has grown to where I typically try and ride for 1 hr 45 mins to 2 hours every morning. Last year i typically only rode for an hour every outing.

Does anyone else cut their ride time to limit cold exposure?

Regarding the Poll: Uninterrupted without going indoors means you can't enter any structure that has a door. If you hide behind a tree that is ok. :D

Also>>>>> below 20 F does not mean 20 F below!!!!

Sometimes I'm forced to ride thur -20F or worse that is nonstop at 4am.( 1 1/4 hours to 1 3/4 hours) I know people along the way, so if I get in to trouble I could knock on their door and they would let me in.

Yes I do ride from 1 3/4 hours to 2 1/4 hours in the winter at -20F it all depends on the wind. Thats as far as I have been able to push it. With out a warm up inside a warm place.

I've done -37F + wind for 7 miles it took lots of time and was brutally cold!!! On this day I did hide behind a tree. Please forgive me! My toes were freezzzzing :D

I can't see myself ever having to stop because of the cold at 20F or a bit colder. My limit would have more to do with my fitness level. Certainly riding for a couple of hours in these temps wouldn't be a problem - just have to dress appropriately.

I normally shorten my ride to 20 miles in the winter, mainly due to cold feet.
That could change now that i am close to buying a pair of Lake winter boots.

i can ride down to relatively low temperatures - the worst it got here last winter was around 1 to 2 F. but i'm definitely only commuting in temperatures below 20F - 'bout 5 miles each way. after about an hour, the toes really start going numb.

btw, my friends here think I'm nuts - but if it's so cold that you have to hide behind a tree, without even pedalling, you're certifiable. props.
