Is it possible to get a bicycle insured? Against damages, accidents? Theft?
Many thanks,
I am not sure how it works in Canada, but in the States the bike is covered under your Homeowner's or Renter's Insurance Policy. BTW - was in Montreal last November for work, nice City.
Actually, my bike (recumbent trike, actually) isn't covered under my homeowner's policy, at least for theft; the insurance company would require me to get a rider on my policy to cover it. The rider worked out to about 10% of the original cost per year; I decided that I'll just have to hope I can go 10 years without having it stolen.

Same deal in Canada. You can get insurance, but it costs a lot. My homeowners covers a bike of up to $1k, and I can up that with extra payments.

I guess it depends on coverage and carrier. Mine is covered for theft from home, riding, traveling etc by the homeowners policy to a value of 10k. Beyond that, it needs a rider. No crash coverage.

When I got my USAC racing license, shortly thereafter I received an email advertising bike insurance, covering just about anything you can think of, including race crash damage. IIRC, it was $200-300/year.

You mean no dmage coverage from a crash? Or, no liability coverage from a crash?

My car insurance company State farm does allow prurchasing a rider for any dollar amount covering bike theft from an auto. I have a blanket liability policy that covers everything including cycling. Not sure how much my home owners covers.
