I am actually horrified by it -- I hope the cop got fired over it. Sure, the guy who went up and flipped him off was a petty @sshole and probably deserved some kind of ticket, or even being arrested, but he did not threaten the cop's safety or anything else that justified the use of such extreme force. What the cop did could have killed caused brain damage/paralysis from the beating on the head like that.

Yeah, the cop's reaction was over the top, but I still find it funny when people get hurt as a direct result of their own cockiness.

All things concidered the Moron was taking an easily supported 'Agressive Attitude' towards the cop. While, yes the cop used extreme non-lethal force on this Moron, I don't feel he was being excessive. It wouldn't have taken much for the Moron to go from Agressive Attitude to Agressive Action and oin the line of duty an cop wants to keep situations from going to Agressive Actions. Any IAB review will support the position that his actions were justified.

Actually, they're trained to hit you on the large muscles of your legs, which is what that cop appeared to be trying to do. Reason: a good "charlie horse" will put you on the ground quickly, but won't break bones.
