Mountain Biking - Giant AC3 05

hi,

does anyone out there own or have ridden a 2005 AC from Giant? only there dont seem to be any reviews for it on the net and im getting annoyed because im getting it for my b'day :D and want to know about it. I know its not the best bike (nowhere near) or brand, but for $AU1300 its pretty good value. Anyway, dont bag my bike for the hell of it, only if your being serious not just rude. :(

Its a good bike nicely specified for the money, I'd be happy if I got one for my birthday :)

I had a AC2 2002 when a start doing downhill, and is a nice bike, but I had broken the frame near of the headset. For the 2005, the AC seem cheaper, because of is rear shock, and they made it the bike who replace the Warp frame. I think the Faint will be a better bike, depend of how many cash you have.

AC in the past was known for some flexiness in the rear. Good bike but for serious use a lot of good riders didn't like it.

They didn't fix the problem from 2001 so I am not sure if it is fixed in 2005, but overall, a great bike :)

I haven't seen the new AC in person yet so I can only comment on the spec which seems pretty solid. You seem to be getting a decent bike. I especially like the Hussefelt Crankset and the Gigapipe DHLT BB combo. Personally I use the Hussefelt with a Gigapipe Team DH BB and I've had no issues with it what so ever. I've got NO flex in the BB / crank area. The SRAM drivetrain components is another spec I really like. SRAM is giving people what they want - Triggers.

Yes, I know I've uncovered a very old thread, but, as I was searching around I was just exicited to find another person with exactly the same bike as me. I picked up a secondhand 05 AC (bargain!) just recently and I love it. Hey da_empire04, if your still around, what do you think? Have you had any problems with it?

Only downside is the rear shock really. Overall, its a good bike and (an early) happy birthday! :bday:

do giant make pretty low range shocks do they?

Yep, Giant are not known for making shocks. I suppose theyre ok, but no adjustment i dont think.

Its got a really good rebound adjustment. (if that counts)

Oh ok. I didnt know it had rebound adjustment. I suppose its an ok shock which has helped to keep the price down. However, lots of people have swapped theirs out.
