From this morning's Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
By Mike Morris
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Cumming police expect to file charges on Friday in connection with an odd case of possible vandalism where several people in a pickup truck cut down a large tree, then dragged it several hundred feet down Ga. 20 before leaving it in the middle of the busy highway.

Tom, is pear wood any good for use in a smoker?
Good ol'boys just trying to divert customers to their Bar-B-Que restaurant.

So the rednecks were caught and charged:
Three suspects have been charged in connection with a bizarre tree-cutting incident caught on video in Forsyth County.
The trio is accused of using a chainsaw to cut down a large Bradford pear tree outside Southern Cinema Design near downtown Cumming, and then dragging the tree down Ga. 20. The company's security camera captured the heist.

And then Salano, obviously needing more attention from the authorities, gets pulled over hours later.
Within hours of his release, one of two suspects charged early this week for illegally cutting down a tree and leaving it in the middle of Hwy. 20 was arrested again on unrelated traffic charges.
In Monday night’s incident, Chalker said a sheriff’s deputy was traveling south on Dahlonega Highway Monday night when he noticed the driver of a Volkswagen Beetle, later identified as Salano, pull out of a gas station while not wearing a seat belt.

I pray to God that someday people who shouldn't be driving can get their license taken away permenantly. There should be a zero-tolerance rule for driving under the influence. If they can do it with kids being expelled for bringing cold medicine to school, why the heck can they not do it for people endangering the public by DUI?????
Aarrrrgh!!!
