Commuting - New York City Metropolitan Commuters-I need your help

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

No, I don't work but just go to conferences. Am going to a conference in Manhattan and want to bring my bicycle. I will be near central park and can cycle in the morning. The final challenge is to get me and my bicycle to Goldens Bridge in Westchester via Metro North. Can one take a bicycle on the commuter train?

Thanks in advance.

You can take a bike on the Metro-North trains only during off-hours. During rush hours bikes are not allowed on the trains. Also, a bike permit is required: http://www.mta.info/bike/

The permit is only $5, it's life-time and you should be able to buy one at any station. It looks like a ticket, so easy to lose too :D
