Commuting - BQE Shutdown, mayhem on the streets.

Well this morning sure was interesting. Apparently what happened was a section of highway running through NYC shutdown and all the cars poured out onto the streets and avenues. It was traffic at a standstill for 5 miles of my commute, the streets so packed I had to take the sidewalk. I even saw 3 CARS driving on the sidewalk to get to side streets. I had one car coming AT me on the sidewalk and ended up standing in front of it yelling at the driver, pointing him to go back and get off the sidewalk.
All in all I did my commute in 46:30, my average is 40 min.
I need to cut my handle bars down more to go between traffic heh.

I remember Sept. 11 -- got out of D.C. in the regular time; others took hours.

Last I heard was a dump truck turned over and there was a bus accident or something.

It was a MESS in Brooklyn!! Things cleared up once I got over the bridge.
I hate how drivers are totally reckless when the traffic is a mess... that's the only time I am nervous commuting in NYC.

5th avenue wasn't even moving. Solid traffic for 70 blocks. I heard flatbush was also blocked up solid for a few miles. I had to walk a lot between cars cause it was so tight.
