I'm trying to decide between these two bikes:

Roam 1 http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-US/bikes/model/roam/7507/44080/

Kaitai http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/mountain/dual_sport/ds_series/kaitai#/us/en/model/reviews?url=us/en/bikes/mountain/dual_sport/ds_series/kaitai

They both feel good to me, and I am inexperienced in the biking world. Does one have better components? Will one hold up better? What seem to be the advantages and disadvantages withe these two bikes. Thanks for any help!

205876They're very similarly speced, I looked at a few Treks, ultimately I bought the Roam. The disc brakes are a plus! I just got it Friday, awesome bike.

I love my Roam 1. Ive had it for a few weeks and have 137 miles on it. Yesterday I had it out for 25 miles of mostly paved trails and it was comfy and fast. Today I had it out on a single track MTB trail and it did great. I was very glad to have the suspension fork and disc brakes today.

Can't speak for the Trek, but I can say the Roam 1 is a fantastic bike. And very versatile.

I have the utopia, same frame was the kaitai with some slight upgrades. It is a fantastic bike. I think you will be happy with either, the appear to be pretty much the same. If they both feel the same when you ride them then pick the one that appeals to you aesthetically.
