The wife and I have breakfast on the deck every morning about
nice o'clock. Every morning for the last couple weeks we have a
visitor. One bee. he, or it?, has to check out every thing. Likes to
sit on the edge of my coffee cup, never on the wife's. Some times
he sits on the frame of my glasses or on the back of my hand.
He runs off any fly's that come around, not too many. When we
are finished we put the dishes on the serving tray and he has
a field day with the honey or syrup from the fruit. He never
bothers with it while we are eating but as soon as we finish......!
We have named him Buzzer. He can get loud at times.

I've befriended spiders before, placing small moths on their webs so they can get them but never bees. Spiders and praying mantis are cool with me.

She, the males never leave the hive except when to service a Queen when she leaves to do her thing starting a new hive.

I remember one that used to come around often one summer when I was a kid. We called him George. Pretty sure it was the same one. He had this strange flying pattern.

I have had butterflies befriend me before. Often they will fly along next to me when I am out on a ride.

Bees don't sting just to sting, it is their dying act. I have never been
stung by a bee. Wasp, yes, they sting for sport!
Bees may be the most advanced thing on earth!

I had a hawk flying next to me on the trail one morning, just a little
closer than I cared for... I think he was looking for breakfast?

Likely your scent (whether it's after shave, eau de toilette, deodorant or soap) is why the bee is so discerning with your coffee cup.

On the orchard where I used to work, 50 or so beehives were brought in each flowering season to pollinate the blossom. Generally, the bees were OK, but if they started to swarm around the hive and you were nearby, watch out! I got stung five times around the back of my head and neck and spent the next day at home in bed.

If I recall rightly, the pattern the bees dance back at the hive after a gathering flight indicates to the other bees where the flowers and pollen are located.
