Cyclocross - The cyclocross market coming into summer/fall.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

What are you looking forward to? I will be hopefully upgrading my current ride, and/or picking up an 'A' bike to get a bit more serious into racing. Im also looking forward to going to watch CrossVegas this fall.

Was curious though, if you guys thought now is a good time to pick up a used bike, or wait until some of the newer stuff is brought into LBS' later in the summer (seems like when they are taking shipments around here).

I know right after the season over winter, there seems to be good deals to be had. But I am getting antsy, and part of me is afraid as demand goes up before the season, prices will go up on used stuff... or is it that people unload their old bikes right before the season funding new projects?

If you can wait, bikes with disc brakes seem like they're on the verge of hitting. That could be a big change.

^^^Agreed. With the recent rule change I'd wait it out as long as you can for disk cross bikes to become more popular. Bike people are still bike people, some are just never satisfied with what they have so once the disk bikes get into the market they will be on craigslist within a couple months I'm sure.

I definitely think now is a better time to buy than early fall, especially if you're buying used. I upgraded to a 2008 Major Jake for this season, and I've seen a lot of CX bikes on CL in the past couples of weeks for some reason. One guy said he was selling his Major Jake to fund a mountain bike purchase. It also seems that some shops still have 2010 models available at hefty discounts.

As for discs, I'm holding out for STI hydraulics.

im not too interested in disks at this time... maybe something with disk tabs on it, but all of the tubular wheelsets that I have are canti's anyhow...

maybe when someone dumps off their bike to upgrade to disks, i'll be able to snatch up their 'old tech' bike
