Riding a Cannondale SuperV500Sl and definitely like full suspension. Would like something more up to date, but don't care for the high price of admission on a new bike. Haven't run across a recent 2nd hand bike well priced yet. So I was wondering if some of the full suspension bikes from bikesdirect.com would be an improvement over what I have?
Riding is mostly crushed gravel fire roads, some gentle singletrack, and XC.
I would like a bit lighter bike, though actually the SuperV doesn't ride as heavy as it is. The Headshok fork seems better feeling than dual springer front forks I have had a chance to ride. My main complaint is biopacing. Someone once described the SuperV as feeling like someone is gently tugging backwards on your ankles with each pedal stroke. That is a very good description.
I also have a Trek Singletrack 930 with True Temper tubing. That bike is lively and efficient feeling. Climbs better and excels at singletrack just likes it name. Now having said that, times over the same ride are about the same either way or better by slight amounts on the SuperV. I feel less beat up over rougher terrain with the SuperV so maybe I should just ignore its minor faults. But it sure would be nice to have a suspension bike with the biopacing and subjective energy sucking nature of the suspension worked out by better suspension geometry.
