izumi V super toughness

So, I was riding an Izumi chain for about a year (not sure which model) and it finally stretched out. I bought an Sram PC-1 thinking a chain is a chain.. Not true. This chain feels like garbage in comparison. Its like gotta work twice as hard to get the same speed.

Since the rest of my drivetrain is legit (sugino zen, ea cog, da 7600 cranks) no reason to skimp on the chain right?

I got some store credit at a bike shop that slangs the super toughness chain and was thinking about going for it.

Anyone else run this chain? You dig it? Think I can squeeze a year outta it riding in rainy ass PDX? I run about 3/4"-1" of slack and wipe and re-lube once a week.. Not racing track, but I do make a point to ride as fast as I can on the street 80% of the time.

It's a chain. No better than a low grade MKS in my opinion (and louder).

Ah, I've been riding my PC-1 for awhile and I am pretty content with it.

Though, I do want to try some KMC 5 series ones.

Nothing special with this chain except the selling point and the "NJS" tax stamp.... I still have my lightly used one from my parted nagasawa build... let's just say it's among my bike part purchasing regrets, right below my kashimax 5 gold top tube protector...

I found this chain: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00..._ya_os_product to be more satisfying IMO, not to mention much lighter on one's wallet.

Onto the question; yes it should last you a year if not more with proper care.

Kmc K710-SL FTW. I was using a standard K710 on my 725 and it was loud as all hell. Swapped it for a K710-SL and couldn't be happier.

I ride the SRAM chain on my fixed-gear commuter, and an Izumi on my race bike. There is a difference. Whether that difference is important to you is another matter, but there is a difference. Noise usually means inefficiency, which means drivetrain/power loss. On a fixie bopping 'round town, no worries. Depends on your needs.

Izumi ECO works well for me. K710-SL might be next... they are in the same price range.

My last chain was an Eco and was pretty noisy. My SRAM isn't but the Eco felt noticeably smoother/nicer. Just gonna go with an Eco I guess and save the SRAM for backup or for a friend in need. Wouldn't even notice a difference between the eco and super tough huh?
