Today was the Princeton Tour de Cure, my first group ride and the first time in years I was so nervous I could barely sleep the night before.
I know I don't post much here but I sure do read many of the posts, everyone has been very helpful since I joined, whether it be with information or encouragement!
Just wanted to let you all know I completed the 30 mile ride today! Thank you for all the kind words and especially the encouragement to just go out and do it!
The ride wound up being closer to 35 miles, so that was a surprise. At mile 29 I was thinking "O yea, just one more mile" then we hit 2 more, 3 more...those extra 5 miles is where I really felt the jello legs :)
It was an amazing experience, I rode the entire route with a Red Rider and he was one of the nicest guys I have ever met. I was honored to ride for everyone with Diabetes and for all of us that have a loved one with Diabetes.
I am officially hooked, time to plan for the next ride and to finally get this body back into shape....and the N+1 kicked in now as well...the second half of the route I was thinking "I wonder how much easier this would be if I was not lugging around this big mountain bike around" :lol:
And here is the final readout from today...surpassed my furthest distance by 13 miles!
