Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Today was an absolutely perfect day for a hill-climbing gaspathon. At the bottom of a climb I was caught and passed by another cyclist before I had the camera on (damn!). I turned it on and caught up to him. He asked where I was going and all the usual cyclist talk. Then he told me he'd been off the bike for a while and "needed a good butt kicking". You see where this is going, right? I'm sure most of us have been around cyclists who claim to be new riders, just getting back into the sport after a layoff, recovering from illness, having an off day, yadayadayada. Then they proceed to make you suffer. :D Watch and listen for yourself. ;)

The second video is a few good sufferfest climbs from Placer Hills Road between Meadow Vista and Colfax. These are what I rode after me and the other cyclist parted company.

Here's a pic from yesterday. Sad to see graffiti up in the hills which are usually free from urban blight-type BS. :(

Great vids, thanks for sharing. The graffiti is disgusting, it's sad to see it on anything much less a sing out in the middle of no where.

Thanks! :) +1000 on the graffiti. I go up in the hills to get away from the crap that happens down here in the valley. Now it looks like it's moving up the hill. Not good! I hope it won't get to the point where roving gangs of teenagers chase cyclists and steal their bikes. That happens in the 'hood.

Classic story!:D Funny, even when I trained my hardest I never outperformed another healthy cyclist. Everybody rider was sick, had just donated the left lobe of their brain or had just grown another leg.:p

Isn't that the truth!

I'm willing to bet he didn't want to be "chicked" either. That's alright, the video proves I was able to catch back up on that heavy breathing-causing climb. :p:D

Yup, your legs will be bathed in lactic acid on some of these climbs. :D:p

I've seen posts from several Clydes and Athenas from my neck of the woods. Maybe we should have a NorCal C/A ride sometime. ;)
