Touring - New Purchase

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Ive been fixing up and riding a lot of old bikes and finally decided to buy a new one. I think the only other time I bought a new bike was when I was 14 and got a paper route to pay for it after I put it on lay away. I still remember like it was yesterday (25 years ago) it was a Dimondback Viper all chrome. I was just as excited today as I was back then. It was a tough choice; I narrowed my choices to a Surly LHT, a Cross Check, a Volpe, or a Salsa Fargo. I ended up choosing the LHT. I added a Brooks flyer saddle, clipless spd pedals, and fenders. I will add more as time goes on. I took it for a quick spin tonight and it rides really nice. I can't wait to start racking up the mileage.

nice, i just got a new bike as well, and went for my first ride and ended up going 40 miles with it, it was a blast.
Not anything big. Just some weekend tours in state. (Alaska) I hope to do North to South of Chile within the next two years. Just will be using it mainly for commuting and recreation riding.

Cool. Where you live in AK? I have family outside Eagle River (they happen to be cyclists too).
What kind did you end up with?
I live in Anchorage
Sweet. Really close to them (by AK standards).
