Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - What kind of floor pumps do you have?

My wife bought a Bell floor foot pump from Wal-Mart a couple of weeks ago ,and it already broke. I knew it was a piece of junk but didn't say anything. I found a old Schwinn floor pump that I bought several years ago. I thought it was thrown away because of a busted hose. The pump was designed to air up all types of bikes tires and the gauge goes up to 140 psi. It has even aired up a car tire or two. The pump is at least 20 years old. I took off the old hose and replaced it with the one that had broke. Works like a charm. A little rusty and dinged up but airs tires up quick.
What kind do you use?

I think mine is a Blackburn ... or no, actually I think it's a Serfas.

I had the gold standard for over 30 years - the famous Silca track pump, made from Columbus bicycle tubing and with that massive presta-only no-lever brass chuck, but a couple of years ago it stopped working well even with new replacement parts (I was on probably my 6th or 7th leather washer for it). Rather than spend more money on it, I decided to look into the relatively new pumps that had dual-design chucks (no adapters or having to swap parts to go from presta to schrader and back), and I bit on a new one. It's a Bontrager and I like it a lot. One nice feature for someone with older eyes is the gauge is at the top of the cylinder and not at the bottom, which makes it a little easier to read.

The old Schwinn pump is one of those red ones they sold in bike stores years ago. Except for the hose,it's pretty much been bullet proof. It has survived extreme cold tempatures,flooding,etc. One of these days I'll buy a new one,but untill that day comes I'll stick with the old guy.

I also have a BETO II floor pump but my back is such that working it too much causes me a lot of grief... have had this for years and only had to change the pump head when that wore out and went with an extended hose so I can fill tyres when a bike is in the stand.

Purchased for 25.00 at MEC and have found these are as good as a Park floor pump when it comes to survive-ability in a shop environment.

My compressor was free and only needed $14.00 in parts to overhaul it.

I like the top of barrel gauge for easier reading, and the extra-long hose will even reach the top bike on my wall rack (if the stems are at the bottom of the wheel).

I have a Bell Air Stomper... must be lucky because I've never had a problem with it, but I've heard bad things from pretty much everyone else.

I had a Topeak JoeBlow Sport pump I bought at REI. It lasted 7 months before the gauge stopped working and in that time it bent one presta valve (the screw out part). I replaced it with a Lezyne Alloy Floor Drive pump which I love. Yeah, the Lezyne is expensive but it works well and have user serviceable parts.

That pump impressed me so much I bought their Trigger Drive CO2 chuck for my saddle bag. That trigger drive is another well-made piece of gear.

I also have a need to run air tools... although filling tyres seems to be it's primary task.

My daughter is too small to pump up her own tyres fully and she loves the compressor... she can dial it in to the desired setting and the automatic shut off makes it burst proof.

I have the CNC floor drive.

I have a Blackburn floor pump. I have no idea what the model is, but it has two separate valve nozzles in it's head. One Schrader, one Presta. It works quite well though the presta head doesn't seem to bite onto smooth presta valves. Threaded valves solves this issue.

I've got an older Silca pump. When the leather washer wore out, I got a Serfas with one of those dually nozzles. Disaster; it's as likely to let all the air out as it is to pump air into the tire. Crappy head, crappy valve.

Dug the Silca up and found a new leather washer. Works fine.

Joe Blow, a yellow one with gauge and dual head that's about five years old and working fine.

Park Tool Professional. Good so far except sometimes the head doesn't want to switch the air flow over to the side I am using. This has 2 holes rather than a smart head. I have to put my thumb over the hole for the valve type I am using and give it a pump to make it switch over. It's a minor annoyance.

I went through 3 Topeak Joe Blow Pros before I gave up. All 3 had the internal valve fail.

I have the Topeak Joe Blow Pro too, since 07 never had a single issue with it, great pump.

I, like sixty fiver, have a 25 gallon air compressor that I usually use but I discovered my battery jump box has a compressor built in that is actually better for the bike tires. It inflates them slower and safer then 100 psi coming out of the compressor.

Topeak Joe Blow Pro.

These pumps are expensive, but I like them so much I own two! Bought both of them on sale; keep one at home and one at the office. I had a Silca, but ended up giving it away to a friend. It was due for a new washer and his eyesight is still good enough to read the floor-level gauge :D
