I don't know how many times this question has been asked, but I really need help fast. I'm 6'9" tall 287lbs. Just ordered a Trek 2.3 64cm. I wanted the Speciallized Sectuer comp in a 64cm but back ordered till Aug maybe. The Trek has 105's all around the specialized has SRAM apex, but a long wait. My budget is $2000.00 or less. Is there anywhere else I should check before I invest?

with your budget; I'd be building my own with a custom frame.

is 64 cm even big enough? I have a 60 and I'm 6'2"

Some body on this very board bought a used Zinn Ti bike off ebay not very long ago for peanuts - it belonged to a former NBA player. you are going to be looking for a very unique size bike and Zinn specializes in oversized bikes. Might want to keep your eyes open for something similar.

Depends on your body. I'm 6'5" and I had a 64 cm bike. It was WAY too big for me. I now ride a 60 cm bike that fits better, maybe even a tad on the large side.

I am 6'6" but my inseam is shorter than my sleeve length so I end up fitting on a much smaller frame. That said and in your price range you should look at the Cannondale SuperSix. Its carbon and about $1,700.

You should also check out a fit system; https://www.wrenchscience.com/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=/Secure/Fit/Height.aspx is free, but they bombard you with e-mail afterwards.

Thanks for all the help. My inseam is a bit on the short side for my height 37", I'll be fitted for the Trek 2.3 sometime tomorrow. I'll check out the connondale first. Thx again for quick response

Ok, got the Trek 2.3. Took all of an hour to set me up on a trainer. Changed a few things though; from Affinity 2 saddle to specialized toupe, taller carbon seat post. From botranger handle bar stem to specialized. From botranger x23 tires to Conti gatorskins x25, from no peddles to shimano 105 clip less. Double gel tape on handle bar. The bike rides great. I am very pleased also with customer service at LBS. Richardson Bike Mart, excellent!!! Threw in pouch w/2 inner tubes 2 co2 cartridges, what a bike, what a shop

Congrats on the new ride! I'm picking up a new Madone later this morning. Nothing like a little Christmas in June, huh? :thumb:

Congrats man. From one tall rider to another (6' 6"), right on. Post some pics of your new ride?
