In my opinion the two best sports on the planet.Hockey is a sport of real athletes, unlike baseball and football which is full of Fatso's . I would be amazed if most fat MLB pitchers can run over 2 miles

Personally I love watching hockey and cycling on Versus. So if everybody else in the U.S. watches less, that just means that there's more left over for me right? My piece of the pie gets bigger! Yes, it must.

I play hockey in the winter and a lot of guys on my team cycle in the Spring / Summer. I just started cycling and quickly becoming addicted. So yes, my 2 favorite sports now are hockey and cycling...and I watch it every chance I get...but I'm also in Canada so coverage is limited for cycling :(

Being that I travel all over the US fairly regularly, I can only suggest there are no fans of pro cycling or the NHL in the vicinity of Mt. Doom.

There are fans of both all over, just not enough to compete economically with re-runs of Will and Grace or Two and a Half Men.

We have the largest softwood supply, the largest hydro electric supply and largest fresh water supply. Look around any major US city at the increased number of Canadian banks, TD, RBC, BMO, Scotiabank. Who is buying who?

Supply and demand old boy and the US is reliant on our goodwill a lot more than we are reliant on their desire or ability to buy.

That said, I have more friends in the US than in Canada. They have a much better grasp on their situation than online personalities let on. Deep down, I love what America was but am concerned for the future. The people are wonderful and of course they are welcome here. Spry and I like to swap shots. Just like hockey players do. :thumb:

Here in Canada, we also have a branch plant economy thanks to the Americans. These USA companies grant employment to many of our citizens.

Not only do they bring their own companies across the border, like ExxonMobil and Ford, but they buy out our existing companies (like the Hudson's Bay Company) and make money off of us that way.

Once upon a time, I used to be bigoted toward the Americans. Anti-Americanism is alive and well in Canada, but it doesn't exist in me anymore. I'm happy to have the Americans as our friends. It's been a good, and lucrative, relationship. Why upset that? :thumb:

A 9% trade differential is not totally out of line. Your reference to 45% GDP being from export includes ALL export.

Branch plant economy is not a good thing when tax advantages are utilized (ie supplemented from other tax revenue) and profits are taken off shore.

Selling the Hudson Bay company should never have been allowed. Again syphoning profits from Canadian revenue.

Most people I know enjoy our neighbors. That doesn't mean we give them free reign.

The US has long had a US first policy and Canada needs to do more to protect it own soveregnty.
