Foo - ouch! glass splinter in my heel

I've got a tiny glass splinter in my heel that I've tried to dig out with a push pin but since it's soo small I've just ended up digging fruitless in a number of places with no luck.

What is your preferred method of splinter removal when you can't see the splinter but can only feel it?

This is exactly why I don't wear glass slippers.

I got a piece of glass in my knee when I knelt down on it. I saw my knee was cut but I didn't know glass had gone in it. I had knee pain, but that's not unusual for me. Six months later I cut my finger soaping up my knee in the shower. It was the sharp end on the glass poking out about an inch from the point of entry. I squeezed an half inch long shard out of my knee.

Use a piece of adhesive tape. Press it firmly on your heel, making sure it sticks, then remove it. See if you can get the piece of glass to stick to the tape.

I find that soaking body parts in water removes wooden and metal splinters. I'm not sure how well it will work with glass.

Apply glue to your skin at the location of the splinter. Peel it off after it dries and hopefully the splinter will come out with the glue.

Heat your foot above 1,500 C and the glass will just melt right out. :)

Or you could see a podiatrist instead of getting stupid medical advice on the internet.

I use an electric drill. I just drill little holes until the glass comes out. But don't be stupid and use a 120volt one. Use a cordless one, especially in the bath.

Olive oil...Put some olive oil on your foot and push in the opposite direction that it went in. I was able to remove plastic slivers from my thumb this way.

Packaging tape applied and pulled in the opposite direction that the glass went in.

Go see a doctor.

I got a glass cut on my thumb while working in a window shop. I had a few stitches at the time. After 8 years of pain in the joint and occaisional bruises, a shard worked its way out. Helped it the rest of the way with tweezers. I am in favor of the medical help, not so much the drilling..OUCH!

Pour coffee or other sweet goodies on your foot or the area you need to remove the glass. Let it bake in the sun for a while. Borrow a neighborhood dog or stray cat and use it to lick off the goodies, and the shard should come out with the sweets. It has worked for me for metal splinters and other gardening disasters.

I do the push from the opposite direction thing. Warm compresses help to, IMHO. Wonder if leeches applies to the area would help?

One day, I was cleaning up after accidentally dropping a drinking glass. Unfortunately, a tiny glass fragment lodged in my foot that I didn't manage to sweep up. There was no way I could get the fragment out myself. The only way I got it out was to have a doctor remove it later that day.
